Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 19, 2026

This policy explains how Athens Yachts Rental handles personal data when you browse athensyachtsrental.com, send an enquiry, call or write to us, or confirm a yacht charter in Athens. It applies to visitors, enquirers and chartering guests, and is written to comply with the EU General Data Protection Regulation and the Greek data protection law implementing it.

It does not cover the WhatsApp application itself, which is operated by Meta under its own privacy terms once a conversation is opened there.

Who is responsible

The controller of your personal data is Athens Yachts Rental, the brand under which this website and our charter service in Athens operate. We have not published a separate company registration number or office address on the site; all privacy questions, and any request concerning your data, should be sent to [email protected].

Information we hold and where it comes from

We obtain personal data directly from you, and some technical data automatically as you browse.

When you submit the enquiry form, we receive your name, email address, phone number if you give it, the yacht you selected, your proposed charter start and end dates, the number of guests, your message, and the page address and referring link that brought you to the form. If you call, email or message us directly, we keep what you tell us in that conversation.

When you tap a WhatsApp button on the site, we log that click together with the page you were on, the referring link, the site language and the prefilled message text, before WhatsApp opens on your device. The conversation that follows runs inside WhatsApp and is governed by Meta's own privacy policy.

Our own visit-measurement script, served from our domain, records pages viewed, time spent on a page, the referring website, any campaign parameters carried in the link, device type, browser, operating system, screen size, browser language and a country derived from your connection; we do not store the IP address itself. If that visit later results in an enquiry or a tapped contact link, we connect the two so we know which channel led to the contact.

Standard server logs record the IP address, time, requested page and browser of every visitor, kept briefly for security purposes.

The site also writes a small amount of information to your browser: one entry remembers that you closed the cookie notice, one temporary entry remembers which yacht you clicked so the enquiry form can be pre-filled and is removed when you close the tab or send the form, and one entry holding random visitor and session identifiers for the measurement described above, which expires after 30 days of inactivity and can be cleared at any time through your browser settings. None of these entries contain your name, email or phone number.

Why we use this information and on what basis

We process enquiry details to answer your questions and prepare a written quote, which is a step taken at your request before a possible contract, and, once a charter is confirmed in writing, to perform that contract.

We keep server logs and apply technical safeguards on the basis of our legitimate interest in keeping the website and our business secure.

Where a booking proceeds, certain information must be recorded to meet tax and accounting obligations under Greek law; this is processed to comply with a legal obligation.

We use the visit-measurement data described above on the basis of our legitimate interest in understanding how visitors find and use the site, without identifying you personally. We do not sell personal data, we do not use it to take automated decisions about you, and we do not send marketing emails unless you have asked us to.

Guest names for the crew list

Once a charter is confirmed, Greek port authorities require the captain to hold a list of everyone on board before the yacht leaves port. For this reason we will ask you, ahead of departure, for the full names, nationality and, where required, passport or identity card details of all guests. This information is collected only to prepare the crew list and is passed to the captain assigned to your charter and, where the authorities request it, to the relevant port authority.

Who receives your information

Access to enquiry and booking details is limited to our own team, who use an internal messaging tool to coordinate a prompt reply, and to the captain or driver who will actually run your charter once a booking is confirmed, so that the crew is briefed and ready.

The site itself is hosted by a hosting provider that serves the pages you view; we have not published its name or location on this policy.

The page also loads two third-party resources needed for it to work correctly: Google Fonts, which supplies the typefaces used on the site and in doing so receives the visitor's IP address, and the intl-tel-input library served from the jsDelivr content delivery network, used to format phone numbers in the enquiry form. Neither of these sets cookies on our behalf.

If you choose to message us through WhatsApp, that conversation is carried on WhatsApp's own infrastructure and is subject to Meta's privacy policy rather than this one.

Transfers outside Greece

Google Fonts and the jsDelivr content delivery network may process the limited technical data described above on infrastructure located outside the European Economic Area. Where this happens, these providers are required to apply the safeguards that European data protection law provides for such transfers. If you contact us through WhatsApp, Meta may likewise process that conversation outside Greece, under the terms of its own privacy policy.

How long we keep information

Enquiries that do not turn into a booking are deleted after 36 months. Records relating to a confirmed charter are kept for as long as Greek tax and accounting law requires us to retain them. Server logs are kept for a short period for security purposes and then removed. The browser-stored entries described above expire on their own: the yacht-selection entry when you close the tab or send the form, and the visitor and session identifiers 30 days after your last visit; you may also clear them yourself at any time.

Keeping information secure

The website is a static site with no online payment or card handling, since charters are quoted and confirmed in writing rather than paid through the site. We limit who can access enquiry and booking records to the people who need them to serve you, and we apply reasonable technical measures, including the short retention of server logs, to guard against unauthorised access to the systems that hold your information.

Your rights

You may ask us to confirm what personal data we hold about you, to correct it, to erase it, to restrict or object to its processing, or to receive a copy of it in a portable format where this applies. Where processing relies on your request for marketing contact, you may withdraw that request at any time.

To use any of these rights, write to [email protected]. We may ask you to confirm your identity before acting on the request, and we aim to respond within one month.

If you believe your data protection rights have not been respected, you may lodge a complaint with the Hellenic Data Protection Authority, the national supervisory authority of Greece, in addition to any other remedy available to you.

Children and updates to this policy

Our charter service is intended for adults arranging yacht bookings, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children through this website. We may update this policy as our service or our use of data changes; the version published on athensyachtsrental.com is the one that applies, and continuing to use the site after an update means you accept the current text.
