Terms and Conditions | Athens Yachts Rental

Last updated: October 19, 2026

These terms and conditions govern every charter booking made through athensyachtsrental.com, by email, by phone or by WhatsApp with Athens Yachts Rental, our yacht charter brand operating out of Athens, Greece. They apply to anyone who sends us an enquiry, receives a quote, or confirms a charter with us, and they sit alongside the written quote and confirmation you receive for your specific booking.

Please read them before you confirm a charter. If anything is unclear, write to us at [email protected] before you pay — we would rather explain a point twice than leave you uncertain on the day of your charter.

Who are we, and what do these terms cover?

Athens Yachts Rental arranges crewed day charters and longer yacht charters in Athens, Greece. Our website lists 102 yachts across superyacht, yacht, sport-yacht, day-boat and catamaran categories, with day rates starting from €1,700.

We do not publish a separate trading address on this site, and bookings are not paid online through the website itself. These terms apply to the charter service we arrange for you once a booking is confirmed in writing, as described below. For any question about a booking or about these terms, write to [email protected].

How does an enquiry become a confirmed booking?

Nothing is booked automatically. The process is simple and always involves a human reply:

  • You send us an enquiry through the website form, or contact us by email, phone or WhatsApp, telling us your preferred yacht, dates and number of guests.
  • We reply with a written quote covering the yacht, itinerary, price and anything that is charged separately.
  • The booking is confirmed only once we have confirmed it in writing and received the required payment described below.

Until that written confirmation exists, no yacht is held for you and no charter is guaranteed, however detailed the earlier conversation.

What do our prices include, and what is charged as an extra?

The price in your written quote is the price of the charter itself: the yacht, crew and itinerary agreed with you. It does not automatically include everything that may be needed on the day.

  • Fuel, marina fees, the advance provisioning allowance (APA) on larger yachts, catering and any other extras are only charged if they are stated in your written quote.
  • We do not add charges that were not quoted to you in writing.
  • If your plans change and extras become relevant after confirmation, we will tell you the cost before it is incurred, not after.

How does payment and the deposit work?

Payment rules are deliberately simple and are the same for every client:

  • For day charters, full payment is required to confirm the booking.
  • For charters of two days or more, a 50% deposit is required to confirm the booking.
  • The booking is only treated as confirmed once the required payment has been received and we have confirmed it to you in writing.

We do not take payment through the website itself; payment arrangements are agreed directly with our team once your quote is accepted.

What if you need to cancel or change your booking?

Because EU consumer law treats leisure services booked for a specific date as excluded from the usual 14-day right of withdrawal for distance contracts (Directive 2011/83/EU, Article 16(l)), there is no statutory cooling-off period once you confirm a charter date with us. Instead, we apply a clear voluntary cancellation policy to every booking:

  • More than 7 days before departure: full refund.
  • Between 48 hours and 7 days before departure: 50% refund.
  • Less than 48 hours before departure: no refund.

Refunds due under this policy are processed within 14 business days, to the original payment method. If you need to change dates or guest numbers rather than cancel outright, contact us as early as possible at [email protected] and we will do our best to accommodate the change, availability permitting.

What if we need to cancel — weather, safety, technical issues or force majeure?

Safety on the water comes first, and some circumstances are outside anyone's control.

  • If the captain or the relevant port authority considers conditions unsafe, you choose between a free new date and a full refund.
  • The captain's safety decision is final and is not open to negotiation, however disappointing the timing.
  • The same choice of a free new date or a full refund applies if a technical issue with the yacht, or a force majeure event beyond our reasonable control, makes the charter impossible to run as planned.

We will tell you as soon as we reasonably can if your charter is affected, so you can plan accordingly.

Guests, safety rules and the captain's authority

Every yacht we offer has a licensed passenger capacity, and that limit protects everyone on board.

  • The number of guests on any charter may never exceed the vessel's licensed capacity.
  • Our crew may refuse boarding to anyone whose presence would put the safety of guests, crew or the vessel at risk, including anyone who appears unfit to board.
  • Once on board, the captain has full authority over the safe operation of the yacht, including the final say on the itinerary, anchorages, speed and whether to proceed, alter course, or return to port.
  • The itinerary agreed in your quote is the intended plan, but it may be adjusted by the captain at any time for reasons of safety, weather, sea conditions or port authority instructions.

Conduct on board, damage and personal belongings

We want every charter to be relaxed, and a few simple expectations keep it that way for everyone on the yacht.

  • Guests are expected to follow the crew's safety instructions at all times, including instructions about swimming, tender use, anchoring and weather-related precautions.
  • Guests are responsible for damage they cause to the yacht, its equipment or its tender through negligence or misuse, beyond normal wear and tear.
  • Smoking, open flames and glass in swimming areas, and any activity the captain considers unsafe, may be restricted or prohibited on board at the captain's discretion.
  • Personal belongings brought on board remain the guest's own responsibility throughout the charter; we recommend keeping valuables secure and with you when leaving the yacht for excursions ashore.

What are the limits of our liability, and how do we handle complaints?

We arrange and operate your charter with properly crewed vessels, but some limits apply as they would with any charter operator.

  • We are not liable for delay, loss or inconvenience caused by weather, sea conditions, force majeure, third-party port or authority decisions, or circumstances outside our reasonable control.
  • We are not liable for loss of or damage to personal belongings left on board or ashore.
  • Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, such as liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence.

If something about your charter falls short of what was agreed in your written quote, tell us as soon as possible, ideally while the issue can still be addressed on the day, and in any case by writing to [email protected]. We will look into every complaint and reply directly to the person who raised it.
